Rebbetzin Lifsha Gordon, wife of the late Rabbi Jacob Gordon, died, after a brief illness on Monday, October 31st.
The funeral service was held at the University Avenue Synagogue, where Rabbi Samuel Levine of Hamilton, Rabbi A. N. Mandelbaum of the Beth Medrash Hagodol of Alany Park, of Chicago, son-in-law of the deceased, and Rabbi Samuel Sachs of Toronto, eulogized the deceased. Interment took place at the cememtery of the McCaul Street Synagogue.
Mrs. Jacob Gordon was a resident of Toronto for the last 30 years. She was a capable and devoted help-mate of the late Rabbi Gordon, and took an active part in the communal affairs of Toronto Jewry. Her house, even after the passing of her distinguished husband was a gathering place of scholars, Rabbis and youing students aspirant for the rabbinate. She was known throughout the Province for her hospitality, philanthropy and learning.
Surviving Mrs. Gordon are two daughters, Mrs. (Rabbi) A. N. Mandelbaum of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Sheldon J. Cohen, and one son, Wilferd Gordon of Toronto. ♦
